Oh,
Why
Good
Lord
above,
did thou
not answer
tiny prayer
for your love,
blessing me not
mit baseball glove?
In ’59 be loyal, good
As boys conforming should.
Wish loudly on the proper form:
you’ll get: (a) patriotic uniform,
and (b) a nose cone shapelier than (c),
yon sawed-off Christmas tree, and/or (d):
joyously-gossiping geiger counter, to locate:
(1) radiations of happiness, (2) fallouts of hate…
or (3) isotopes of merriness beneath the sprig of missile-toe
Oh, Say: Friends, Neighbors, Segregate, Neutral, or Distant Foe:
HO-HO
LET’S
PRAY:
PEACE
BE ON
EARTH
AS IN
OUTER SPACE. AMEN!
